El pasado fin de semana se celebró la Bergen Art Book Fair. Era la segunda vez que se celebraba este evento, el más importante de este tipo en Noruega y en Bombas para Desayunar no nos lo quisimos perder. Porque sí, es importante ir conociendo y metiendo el hocico en los eventos de esta índole que haya en nuestro nuevo país.
Bergen Art Book Fair estaba organizada por Bergen Zines con el apoyo de alguna que otra institución. Esta segunda edición tenía como leitmotiv el libro de la arquitectura y el libro cómo arquitectura y consistió en una serie de charlas, mini-charlas, conciertos y un mercadillo. Bombas para Desayunar estuvo presente tímidamente con algunos fanzines, como ya os anuncié, en el puesto de la organización en el que principalmente se vendían fanzines y pequeños artefactos autoeditados.
El mercadillo estuvo muy bien, con unos cuantos puestos bastante variados de proyectos de distintos países. Respecto al resto de evento, sólo acudimos a las mini-charlas, que me parecieron muy interesantes, tanto el formato como el contenido de las mismas.
Como no estoy muy inspirada para escribir y quería contar un poco sobre la feria, voy a hacer un top 4 sin orden ni concierto de las cosas que más me gustaron:
1.- Lugemik. Son una librería-editorial ubicada en Tallin, Estonia. Primero una serie de artistas de Tallin ocuparon el antiguo museo de arte contemporáneo y lo hicieron suyo. Luego la gente de Lugemik (que en estonio se refiere al libro con el que se aprende a leer), hartos de las librerías de la ciudad en las que apenas había espacio para esos "otros" libros como los que ellos mismos publicaban, deciden hacer la suya propia. Convierten los garajes anexos al museo de arte contemporáneo en un espacio en el que los libros puedan estar: diseñan el interior, las estanterías, todo. Desde el amor por los libros y el arte. Os recomiendo que echéis un ojo a su proyecto porque es realmente interesante.
2.- KNUST. KNUST es el brazo editorial del grupo artístico Extrapool. Desde Holanda, viendo su mini presentación me acordaba todo el rato de Dada. Investigan desde hace 30 años con aparatos de impresión con resultados realmente alucinantes. Imprimen papel pintado, fanzines, libros.
3.- Do the print. Al estudio y taller de risografía de Barcelona ya lo conocíamos entre otras cosas porque fueron los encargados de imprimir los posters de la precompra de FEMINIZINE #4, pero ha sido genial vernos en persona y poder charlar. Siendo tan majos nos han dado más motivos para hacer todas las cosas en riso (con ellos, claro).
4.- Bergen Kjøtt. Es el lugar en el que se celebró la feria. Una antigua carnicería reconvertida en sede de eventos culturales varios y estudios para artistas y músicos. Un espacio muy amplio y acogedor, hacía calorcito y tenía sofás. Además el montaje del mercadillo, con mesas hechas con palés, quedó muy resultón.
Por cierto, los fanzines que no se vendieron están disponibles en nuestra tienda online, a saber: más copias de RETROWORTER, Absurd Forces y un par de fanzines de The Publishing Cabin. ¡¡Hay muy pocas copias de cada uno!!

This past weekend Bergen Art Book Fair took place. It is the most important fair of this kind in Norway, and this was its second edition. Bombas para Desayunar wanted to be there, because it's important to know this kind of events in the country and get to know the people who work in it.
Bergen Art Book Fair was organized by Bergen Zines with the support of some other institutions. In this second edition, the leitmotiv was architecture and the book as an architectural object. The fair consisted in lectures, mini lectures, concerts and a market. Bombas para Desayunar was present shyly selling some zines in the organization store. They sold mostly zines and other self-published stuff.
The market was very nice, with quite varied stores from different countries. We attended the mini lectures and found them very interesting, both in content and in format.
Since I'm not very inspired to write something meaningful right now, but I want to say something about the fair, I'm going to make a top list with my 4 favorite things:
1.- Lugemik. They are a bookstore and publisher located in Tallin, Estonia. It all started with some artists squatting the old museum of modern art in the city and making it their own. The people of Lugemik (this word in Estonian means a book which children learn to read from) were sick of the bookstores in the country, in which they didn't have space for these "other" books, such as the ones they publish. And so they decided to create their own bookstore. They transformed some old garages close to the art museum into a space where books could stay, designed the indoor area, the shelves, everything. From the love for books and art. I recommend you to take a look at their project because it is really worth it.
2.- KNUST. KNUST is the publishing part of the artistic group Extrapool. They come from the Netherlands. Their mini lecture reminded me of Dada all the time. They have researched about printing techniques for 30 years with incredible results. They print wallpaper, zines and books.
3.- Do the print. They are a risograph studio from Barcelona. I knew them already because they printed the posters of FEMINIZINE #4. So it was nice to meet them and talk to them in person. They are very pleasant so now we have many reasons to print all our stuff with them.
4.- Bergen Kjøtt. This is the place where the fair took place. It's an old meat packing factory transformed into a cultural space and artists studio. The space is very spacious but also cozy, it was warm, it had sofas, and the DIY tables were very attractive.
Finally, zines which haven't been sold out at the fair are available in our online shop. You can find copies of RETROWORTER, Absurd Forces and some zines published by The Publishing Cabin. There are just a few copies of each one!!!
